Free version of MyGains

Dear Customers,

We are releasing a free version of MyGains today. Free version comes with the following limitations:

Only one capital gains file can be opened with Free version
Only 50 trades are permitted in that file
Only stock and mutual fund trades are permitted.

With free version, you will be able to create Schedule D and export txf file tax software like TurboTax and H&R Block at Home.

To use MyGains free version:

Download MyGains from http://mygains.net/DownloadMyGains.aspx
Install MyGains on your computer.
Open MyGains and click Help --> "Start Free Version"

Of course, free version can be started only from MyGains in trial version.

Year 2010 forms released

Happy 2011 everybody. Another tax season is upon us and MyGains is ready. We have released an update (version 3.0.0) with 2010 Schedule D and Schedule D1 forms. Please update MyGains by clicking on Help --> "Check for updates" in MyGains software.

Remember, unlike most of our competitors, you don't have to pay again for calculating capital gains for 2010 tax year. All updates to MyGains are free on the computer to which it is registered to.

At Dhana Software Inc, it has always been our goal to make it easier to use our software and to purchase our software. Taking one more step towards this goal, we are introducing PayPal payments. Google Checkout will continue to be offered. Now you have two ways of paying for MyGains purchase.

PayPal allows a fast checkout for those who already have a PayPal account. If you don't have an account and don't want to create one, you can still checkout with PayPal just by entering your credit or debit card information.

MyGains after April 15

Dear Customers,

April 15 came and went. Most of you might have filed your taxes and some of you for extension.

If you used MyGains to complete Schedule D portion of your taxes, we thank you for your support. We encourage you to keep using MyGains throughout the year. Many brokers let you automatically download only few months of trades. Since automatic downloads are the best way to import data into MyGains, we encourage you to open MyGains at least once a month and connect to brokers.

MyGains was designed to be a tool useful throughout the year. You can keep track of your gains and losses so that you can do your tax planning better. You can offset your gains by selling loss making stocks. Of course, be aware of wash sale rules.

MyGains Update

We found a bug in MyGains wash sale calculations. It affects only very limited amount of users who have several wash sales. However, please update MyGains (to version 2.0.5 or above) to make sure that you are not affected by this. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Click on Help -> Check for updates
On the window that opens, click "Start"

It is that time of the year again, to file your taxes. If you lost money in the stock market in 2008 (well who hasn't), you may be able to share some of your losses with uncle Sam this year. This tax filing season has something to cheer about after all!!!

If you purchased our software in 2008, please update it to receive this year's schedule D forms and feature updates. Of course, the updates are free as long as you are using MyGains on the same computer.

Automatic downloads and trade history

A few people have noted that MyGains doesn't automatically download the trade history for all of 2007 from their brokerage accounts. Please note that MyGains will only download the historical transactions made available by each brokerage firm and each firm varies.

For instance, E*Trade only allows for transactions from the last 3 months to be automatically downloaded while Scottrade allows for the past 18 months.

We strongly encourage you to download the trial version to make sure MyGains satisfies your needs.
